Dear Katherine,
I can't begin to understand how you must feel losing your son, especially someone so God given and special, as Michael Jackson. I am an 'older' fan, and when I first saw Michael as a little boy command that stage with such extraordinary presence, charisma, dancing skills and the voice of an angel I was hooked. I felt then and have always felt that Michael was a gift from God. Although I was 20 yrs old when I first knew of Michael (who was then just 10 or 11 years old), I felt such happiness whenever I heard him sing with his brothers, or saw him dance, I loved him as if he were my cute younger brother and started buying his records whenever finances would permit. From afar I watched him grow into a sweet young teenager, and then into a very fine young man. It amazed me how he always kept his gentle and shy side off stage, in spite of being a complete power-house of confidence and energy when performing on stage. I learnt to love Michael and all he was and all he believed in. It wasn't just his skill as a singer, dancer, choreographer, song writer, poet and so much more - it was just him.
Michael was a true humanitarian, a gentle, kind, sensitive soul, sweet and childlike in some ways, and such a loving person - it was no wonder the world fell in love with him. Michael always appreciated his fans and never missed a chance to let us know that we were as special to him as he was to us. He never lost his humanness and he was so passionate about helping the under privileged people of the world. He recognized the need to help and teach the children if we were going to be able to change the world and he did so much in his lifetime to try to make that happen. He was way ahead of his time which unfortunately meant he was often misunderstood by those who didn't share his love and concern for our planet and humankind. His naivety at times perhaps led him into conflicts with the media which he could have done without.
