The Dance Has Just Begun

.

Something tells me that you're not far,
You're somewhere on a distant star.
Peter Pan has nothing on you
You'll be forever young, it's true.
Perched on the lunar starlit night,
You've taken your eternal flight.

That smile that's ingrained in my memory
Could light a million candles simultaneously!
So as the new year approaches with the
march of time,
I'm looking for the essence of you,
that special sign.

Is it in the hug of a little child?
Or the delight of a senior that you've
stayed awhile.
A visit to the sick to spread some
good cheer?
Or the love of a special one so dear?

When I see these acts of kindness given so freely,
That's when I see you, Michael, really!
I'll carry the torch and pass it on to everyone.
That's how I'll know the dance has just begun.
