One Day
I hear it in your voice
I see it in your eyes.
The pain you must have felt,
wasn't easy to disguise.
The hurt wouldn't wash away,
Like the warm summer rain.
Many a tear was shed
That will never come again.
Though you tried hard to rise above.
The heartache was too much to bear.
You suffered and endured until
Fate summoned you there.
Still, I know of One who walked
A similiar road as you.
He took the path of most resistance,
Because He knew that's what He must do.
You walked where Jesus walked,
That hard and lonely mile.
Yet you always showed the love
With that beautifully brillant smile.
You were on a mission,
Of that I have no doubt.
Bound and determined
To finish this one out.
"You did your job, you did it well,"
I heard The Master say.
"Now is the time to rest
For I've prepared for you the way."
In that one day, we will know
The purpose so meaningfully deep.
