A Poem by Nancy

For The Maestro's Delight
Last evening the full moon rose from the horizon in a fiery orange glow,
and cast a colour across the sky, like lights dimmed, before a show.
I turned my face upwards to watch the preparations being made,
a spectacle was forming, so glad I had stayed.
There would be a wondrous show, a performance this night,
and I was so pleased to have paused, for this magnificent sight.
Twinkling stars were lit like candle flames in a crowd,
and I wondered at my ability to see this, to be allowed.
As I stood gazing, the moon continued it's ascent,
like a curtain rising, The Creator had given his consent.
The Earth became hushed, as the spectacle drew near,
of the performance in the Heavens, to my eyes, so dear.
The lights were raised as the moon turned to white,
and the whole stage was lit, so shockingly bright.
As the performance ensued, the world began to change,
as shadows were formed and nature rearranged.
In the tops of the trees, soft breezes began to stir,
like a room full of voices that whisper: murmur.
My imagination gathered all it's powers, as I looked up above,
to seek in the Heavens, the dear face I still loved.
The wait was a torture, for one so sweet,
was about to provide to me, an encounter to meet.
As the moon continued, it soon gained it's zenith,
and I was enraptured by my life on this planet.
A soft calmness filled my soul,
as if touched by this angel, still so vital and so whole.
I gazed within me as I looked at the moon,
and thought of the loss, someone so tender, gone too soon.
And the realization struck me, it was so suddenly there,
that my feelings could travel, to the one for which I cared.
And so in my heart a message was formed,
full of peace and love, then by my spirit, it was warmed.
I pushed this note from my heart upwards, with all my might,
and gave it to my sweetheart, who reigns King in the night.
In my mind a wonderful image formed,
of a smile so lovely, so bright and so warm.
Weary from these efforts, I then walked away,
my head hanging in sadness, so little left to say.
But hope still sustains me, for the future will hold,
another full moon, so gloriously bright, oh! so bold.
And then again I will tarry, stop for the magic sight,
and send out my message, for the maestro's delight.
