'Did You Know', An MJ Poem by Karen

Did You Know

Did you know how much we loved you
As you closed you eyes to sleep?
Did you know the memory of you
Is now all we have to keep?
Did you fear that this could happen
Though the tour was on your mind.
Did these thoughts creep up upon you
When this was supposed to be your time to shine?
Did you know we were thinking of you
When you called the worldwide press?
Could you know this was the last time,
You'd stage your final dress?
Did you know we never left your side,
When your world was turned upside down.
How we still can't comprehend,
The way in which you were found.
How everyday since that time,
Has been like a bad dream.
Did you know it hasn't been the same,
And things are never as they seem.
How we would all bear witness,
To the living hell they put you through.
With the insults and the mockery,
As the circus would ensue?
And in your search for decency,
Did you pray for the clouds to disappear?
Could you see the light more clearly
In your children's faces, oh so dear?
Did you know that I for one will never rest,
"Till your justice has finally been served.
Did you know we couldn't have you back,
Because you paid the ultimate price,
The price you didn't deserve.
