Dr. Shafer responds to the MJ fans gifts

Dear Ms. Vetchinina:

It is very nice to hear from you. I am honored and humbled by your kind generosity.

I am a little conflicted about the gift, and I will be happy to explain why. I testified because I have spent years studying the safe use of intravenous anesthetic drugs like propofol. I also wanted to state that doctors do act like Conrad Murray. My testimony was “pro bono”, which means “for the good.” I did not receive any payment, and I offered my testimony with no expectation of any personal reward. I am a little concerned that accepting gifts might look like I actually expected something in return for my testimony.
