JACKSON TO BEAT DI TRIBUTE!!
MICHAEL Jackson’s previously unheard song This Is It is set to become the biggest-selling single in history when it is released a week tomorrow.
Sony Music is expecting sales of more than 50million worldwide, easily beating the 37million notched up by Sir Elton John for his Princess Diana tribute Candle In The Wind.
And it will signal a “global explosion” of new material from the king of pop, who died on June 25.
A documentary movie compiled from 100 hours of footage of his This Is It rehearsals at LA’s Staples Centre will hit cinemas on October 28.
A double CD based on the film, with new arrangements of many of his hits, will be released two days earlier.
And a torrent of re-releases will hit the shops.
His Number Ones album is already the year’s top seller.
Keith Caulfield, of US magazine Billboard, said: “Anything from Jackson is going to be a significant seller, especially new material such as This Is It.”
It is also set to beat the other two singles tied with Sir Elton at top spot – Bing Crosby’s Silent Night and White Christmas.
