Jett Edwards Remembers MJ

Jett Edwards, former A&R director for Jackson Records recently spoke to the press and recalled some fond memories of the late Michael Jackson.

“There will never be another Michael,” Edwards, a Kings Mountain native, said from his home in Japan, “but there will be someone as talented, but in a different form. The world is full of God's gifts. They never stop coming.”

Edwards described Jackson as a supportive person, one who knew the music industry inside and out.

“He taught us a lot about professionalism,” Edwards said with a laugh.

That became evident when Jackson agreed to pose for the cover of Q-ME Magazine’s premiere issue, an effort from founder Lorrin “Smokey” Bates, Edwards and other contributors.

Bates founded Q-ME Magazine in 1992.

Like Jackson, Edwards grew up in a family that lived and breathed music.

“A lot of things we had in relation,” Edwards said.

Edwards recalled several visits with the Jackson family in the early-to-mid ’80s — “His father loved to barbecue and he's a pretty good chef, too.”
