1998 - Billboard Magazine celebrated the 40th anniversary of their "singles chart" by compiling a list of the top songs over the past four decades. They listed Michael Jackson as the #1 male artist with the "Most #1 hits."

1984 - Michael Jackson won Best Overall Performance Video for "Thriller" at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards.

1986 - Michael Jackson's "Captain Eo" opened at Disneyland in the Magic Eye Theater. The film actually debuted in Disneyland's Journey into Imagination at Epcot Center on September 12.

1989 - A California Raisins commercial that featured a "claymation" version of Michael Jackson debuted on U.S. television.

1992 – Michael performs in concert to a capacity audience of 40,000 at the Stade Municipal in Toulouse, France.

2001 – Michael calls on those he knows in the entertainment business to come together to record a song that will hopefully raise $50 million for the survivors and the families of victims of 9/11. The song “"What More Can I Give"”, will be produced by Michael and all proceeds will go to a relief fund for the victims’ families and survivors.

2001 – On this week’s US Billiboard music video charts, Michae'l’s “"HIStory on film: Volume II"” has turned Platinum and placed at number 7 after 105 weeks on the chart.

1990 - The Los Angeles Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America gave Michael Jackson the "Michael Jackson Good Scout Humanitarian Award." Disney CEO Michael Eisner presented the award.

1986 - Captain EO, a 17-minute, three-dimensional, musical, science-fiction flick starring Michael Jackson, made its gala premiere at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA and at Disney’s Epcot Center in Orlando, FL this day. The innovative movie cost approximately $1,000,000 a minute to produce.

It said, "For some time now, I have been searching my conscience as to whether or not I should publicly react to the many falsehoods that have been spread about me. I have decided to make this statement based on the injustice of these allegations and the far-reaching trauma those who feel close are suffering. I feel very fortunate to have been blessed with recognition for my effrots. This recognition also brings with it a responsibility to one's admirers through-out the world. Performers should always serve as role models who set an example for young people. It saddens me that many may actually believe the present flurry of false accustaions. To this end, and I do mean END: No, I've never taken hormones to maintain my high voice! No, I've never had my cheekbones altered in any way! No, I've never had cosmetic surgery on my eyes! Yes, one day in the future I plan to get married and have a family. Any statements to the contrary are simply untrue. I have advised my attorneys of my willingness to institute legal action and subsequently prosecute all guilty to the fullest extent of the law. As noted earlier, I love children. We all know that kids are very impressionable and therefore succeptable to such stories. I'm certain that some have already been hurt by this terrible slander. In addition to their admiration, I would like to keep their respect."

1993 - Tito and Jermaine Jackson walked off the set of NBC-TV's "Today" show when a crew arrived to interview the two about the troubles of their brother Michael with the Los Angeles Police Department. The two later held a press conference where they stated their support for their brother.

1958 - Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, USA.

1963 - Michael starts Kindergarden at Garnett Elementary School in Gary and, at the age of five, participates in a school pageant, singing an a capella version of "Climb Every Mountain" taken from the film "The Sound of Music". His emotional delivery brings his teacher and mother to tears. This is Michael's first public performance. Shortly afterwards, Michael takes over from Jermaine as lead vocalist in the group.

2002 - Michael Jackson was presented a birthday cake and statuette in the shape of a treble clef at the MTV Video Music Awards. He mistakenly thought he was receiving an award for "Artist of the Millenium."

1987 - Michael Jackson's album "Bad" was released. It contained seven hit singles

1984 - The Jacksons Victory Tour broke the record for concert ticket sales. The group surpassed the 1.1 million mark in only two months.

2009 - Coroner of UCLA Medical Center in Los Angels official announced the toxicology result of autopsy. The office established that Michael had a mixture of drugs in his blood that includes: Valium, lorazepam, midazolam and propofol. In the result of given him too much dose (25 milligrams) of propofol and earlier given in mixture of drugs, Michael's heart had been arrest. Michael's death is considered for a murder, and responsible for this is his own physician Dr. Conrad Murray.

1991 - "Looking Back To Yesterday: A Young Michael" was released by Motown.

1995 - Michael Jackson testified in a lawsuit brought against his family by the producers of the "Jackson Family Honors" show. He stated that he never promised to perform, but agreed to present awards.

2009 - It was reported that the Los Angeles County coroner ruled Michael Jackson's death a homicide. Forensic tests had revealed that anesthetic propofol and two sedatives were found in Jackson's system.

2004 - Michael Jackson was a special guest of Rev. Cecil "Chip" Murray at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles. One of the most respected churches in the Los Angeles African-American community, the 10:00 a.m. Michael Jackson, his youngest brother Randy Jackson, entertainer Steve Harvey, and attorney Mr. Thomas Messerau sat comfortably towards the back of the church and enjoyed the service. Although news of Michael's appearance was not widely publicized, the press from most major news channels were on hand. Much of the public learned of Michael's appearance from hearing it mentioned on the Steve Harvey radio program earlier. There were a handful of fans who knew where First AME Church was located and were able to be there to greet Michael. After Michael left the church he made his way to the Cecil F. Murray Education Center, a small school a block away that is run by First AME Church. There, he was scheduled to greet a class room full of about 25 African-American children.The press were told before Michael entered the room that there would be absolutely no questions that would be allowed by the press.
