Read Lesley's Journal
In my sadness, I find solace in that his manager and lifelong friend, Frank DiLeo, was quoted as saying that Michael’s last words to him the night before his death were, “I’m ready. I’m doing all 50 shows. Don’t even think that I’m not. Frank, I’ve never been happier. Since you’ve been back, things are going well. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We did it once. This is our time to do it again.”
He added that Michael was a healthy weight, around 140 (more lies by the press), and that he was out-performing all of the younger professional dancers! “I don’t care whether you’re five years old or 40, you’re not going to out-dance Michael Jackson. He’s gonna put it to you sooner or later.” (How awesome is that for a man of 50?!)
At the end of his life, Michael had his children and he was healthy and excited about being on stage before his beloved fans again and excited that his children would see him perform for the first time. I would say he went to sleep the night of June 24th a very, very happy man.
You showed them all, Michael, that there was no keeping you down! You walked through their fire and came out on the other side gloriously victorious! You will live forever and they will soon be forgotten. Thank you, Michael, from me for being you.
Thank You Lesley.....
