Unheard Cries

Children are crying they are afraid,
Is the boogie man coming to take me away?
Playgrounds are empty, swings left unsung,
Because of what criminals have done.
 
Two little girls, Sammy and her friend were busy at play
A bad man in a car took her away.
Hers screams went unheard
The incident had created quite a stir
 
 
Police were called, new stations alerted,
Amber alert had to be started.
The hours passed by and still no word
Samantha’s cries still went unheard.
 
A distraught mother’s plea
 Is heard on national TV…
“Please bring my baby back to me!”
 
Samantha - only five-years -old,
Her birthday was July 26th and a big party was planned,
Samantha really loved Peter Pan
She said he was like her, he could fly and be free,
That’s exactly how she wanted to be.
Then the news came late in the afternoon,
And was met with trepidation,
A small child was found lying on the side of the highway
Was silenced forever.

Her blonde curls lay across her chubby cheeks,
Face down on the gravel,
As cars passed by as they traveled.
Molested, dumped and left alone
Samantha would never return home.
Yet now she flies with her friend Peter Pan
In a new home called Never-Never– Land
Now she no longer has to be afraid
Of the boogie man who came and took her that day.
