Sharpton To Call For MJ Stamp

5-7-2009) The Rev. Al Sharpton plans to call today for the U.S. Postal Service to issue a Michael Jackson stamp. Sharpton will try to drum up support for the idea when he delivers a sermon at the First A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles.

However, under the Postal Service rules, a stamp honoring a person cannot appear until five years after his death.

"I'm sure we'll receive tens of thousands of letters advocating for the stamp, but the rules are the rules," a postal spokesman said.

Sharpton also will call for a national day of mourning honoring Michael Jackson, his spokeswoman said.
