Letter Written For Writing Campaign

Thanks Sheril For Finding!

August 29, 2009

To whom it concerns:

We, the fans of Michael Joseph Jackson, are tired. We are tired of sources that proclaim journalistic integrity while resorting to spewing libelous rumors about a man tormented in both life and, now, death. We are tired of reports coming forth which tell only the side of the story you’d prefer for the general population to know; as you’re well aware, most people will not take the time to dig deeper than what is being spoon-fed to them. We are tired of sitting around idly and watching as a man that wanted nothing more than to have his privacy respected becomes the subject of the most invasive scrutiny we’ve seen in quite some time.

As such, we’re speaking out.

Mr. Jackson, for the last fifteen years of his life, was made out to be a monster. He was a monster because of some eccentricities that many of us would have taken on had we been basically forced to be an adult from the age of five onward. He was a monster because he was too trusting of people that would ultimately take advantage of him—in life and in death.

This society unfairly punishes those that refuse to become jaded and ambivalent to suffering, and Mr. Jackson was one of those people. Rather than be lauded for his accomplishments—lest we forget, this is a man estimated to have given up to an astonishing $500 million to charitable causes over the course of his lifetime—he was publicly lambasted because he closed his eyes and ears to your prejudiced portrayal of him, and chose to open his heart instead.

We are tired, and we will no longer simply accept that this is the way things are and that we are unable to make a change. As Mr. Jackson taught us, the capacity for change is within us all, and it starts now. No more ratings for your feeble excuses for news shows. No more revenue from magazine and newspaper sales. It ends now. We hope that someday, honesty and integrity will prevail. Thank you.

“In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.”  –Michael Jackson
