Sue's Adventure To The 02 Arena To See MJ's Exhibition!

Here is Sue's Email To Us:

Hi Bonnie/Fans,

Just to let you know my husband and I made the trip to London on Friday to see Michael's memorabilia exhibition at the O2 . It was a very long and tiring day (we spent most of Saturday recovering ) but well worth the journey.

We took a camera along hoping to take pictures but on entering the exhibition we were told NO photographs allowed. Also I was disappointed that there was no brochure or guidebook of any kind.

When we had been through the exhibition and found a place to sit down I wrote down everything we could remember between us, so the best I can do is give you a description of what we saw.( I wish I had a photographic memory)

The exhibition is very well presented. It begins with a short film about Michael, then has areas devoted to different stages of his life.

First is the early years with the original Motown contracts signed by Joe Jackson. There are many costumes from his tours with the Jackson's and from the Bad, History and Dangerous tours and from some of the videos. Also the clothes and shoes which had been designed for him for the This Is It shows, including the suit for Smooth Criminal and the special shoes Michael patented for the lean.

Various music awards displayed. A letter to Michael from Ronald Reagan dated (I think ) 1984. Information about his humanitarian work.. Different colored sequined gloves including the white glove Michael wore when he picked up eight

Grammy awards and a book about the history of the glove which belonged to Michael.   Items from a few of Michael's videos including the white chair and a guitar from the Scream video.

The original handwritten lyrics for Beat It. Some of the gold and platinum discs awarded to Michael.

Items from Neverland include a a blue Rolls Royce, a huge gold throne, a scepter, a gold crown displayed on a red cushion , a beautiful rocking horse which was a present to Michael from Elizabeth Taylor, a display of Michael's collection of military items ( helmets, medals etc ) a very ornate piano, a few of Michael's' fantasy ' paintings ( Michael wearing a crown and being knighted )

Michael's music and videos are played throughout the exhibition and there is lots of written information to match the items.

The last part is about the This Is It show and has a small stage set up for the Thriller song with mannequins wearing the costumes designed for the show and one of the 'puppet ghouls' suspended from the ceiling. There is a scale model of the stage (made for planning the show I think )

Also a small flask Michael's children would fill with snacks for him to take to rehearsals (very touching ). There is a display of the seven different tickets Michael helped to design for the show.

At the end there are books in which visitors can write down thoughts and messages, which will we passed on to Michael's family.

There are other items Bonnie these are the things we can remember so far.

It was very emotional to see these things but very special to be so close to the things that were personal to Michael.

God Bless You Bonnie and take care,

  Love Sue.
