Michael Jackson is the best selling artist of 2009, which should come as no big surprise.  The King of Pop has sold nearly 23 million albums, which comes as a huge bonus for the recording business, which despite those unexpected sales, was down another 13 percent, continuing their 8 out of 9 years of decline.

My new idol, Susan Boyle, has the #1 best selling album in the world--tallying 2009 sales with over 6 million albums sold in just 6 weeks and narrowly beating out the outrageously intoxicating Lady GaGa for that top spot.

Taylor Swift was also a shoe-in for having the best-selling album in the US for 2009, but was also narrowly beaten by what many call "the ugly duckling" syndrome that turned Susan Boyle into the most loved beautifully singing swan.

The recording industry should learn lessons from the massive worldwide phenomenon of Susan Boyle and the "blacklisted" Michael Jackson; no longer is anyone too old, too washed-up, too unattractive, too fat, too misunderstood, or too undesirable to sell the most records.  The sales successes of Michael Jackson and Susan Boyle are proof positive that TALENT reigns supreme.

And judging by the King of Pop's continual worldwide popularity, he remains ALIVE and WELL and welcome abroad Susan Boyle!
