A Meaningful Sunday Afternoon

(The Boston Vigil Story)  by Lilia

By now, most people know vigils are being held all over the world, and many have discovered that the MJ Vigil fans are on watch to ensure Michael receives a fair trial. However, very few people may know what it takes to demonstrate a Michael Jackson Vigil effectively. It doesn't‘t take the presence of media, nor does it take non-hostile surroundings. It doesn't even take a warm sunny day, or anything of the atmosphere for that matter.

Michael Jackson vigil fans create their own atmosphere. It is the loving spirits of the fans that create meaningful heart-warming vigils. After the arraignment gathering, with hundreds of fans from all over the world present, a vigil of a  little more than a dozen fans may seem small and somewhat diminished in impact and meaning. This was so far from the truth for the Boston, Massachusetts Vigil. Despite the small group of 15 fans, and despite the cold and whipping winds, the loving spirits of these fans lead to another meaningful heart warmed vigil in the most effective way.

From a distance you immediately recognized the moves of the MJ look-alike dancers. In an instant, they drew the attention of those strolling through the park on this cold and windy day. Were as people might have been otherwise, inclined to keep moving towards shelter from the cold winds, on the day of the vigil, the un comfortableness of the weather wasn't enough to draw their attention away as they watched the two very talented young ladies Diana and Jess mimicked Michael Jackson's moves and style with such perfection. The Dancing was so well done it was as if Michael was there with us.

From oldies to MJ's most resent released song ” One More Chance', Brent the DJ kept a continual well selected mixture of Michael's song playing. He kept the dancers supplied with just the right songs for their routines as well as the right flavor of music and enthusiasm for the sing-along's. Brent and a young lady named Beverly kept the enthusiasm alive throughout the whole event, as they never seemed to stop moving.

Another crucial member of the team was Brenda. She put meaning into the word vigil. She spoke to people as they stopped to watch the dancers and handed out flyers with information about Michael's case. There seemed to be no limit to whom she felt comfortable speaking to. She reflected in every way the same non-discriminative meaning in Michael's “Heal the World” through global harmony efforts. It didn't matter what age, gender, race, or social background the spectator came from, she extended her hand out to everyone as she passed on information and a freedom to join us if they willed. There was one particular man who seemed more than appreciative of her extended hand to the point where, he did join us.

Prevailing and standing strong, were the ever supportive background fans that held up signs. As I mentioned earlier cold winds were whipping and many shivered from chills to the bones. However, that didn't keep this set of fans from steadily displaying their signs of support and voicing their love, loud and strong as the MJ sing-along songs were proudly sung.

The final addition to the day's event, four more dedicated fans arrived towards the end of the vigil, and yet, still managed to supply ‘the icing on the cake‘. They were determined to get there despite the obstacles they faced that day. Bonnie Lamrock, her two daughter's, and a young friend, arrived with a beautifully tailored cloth banner that read “Boston Believes In Michael Jackson”. This added the perfect touch in capturing the full effects and efforts of the event.
