God As ‘Idol’ Not Ok For Student Project But Ok To MJ

A little 10-year-old girl Memphis was hurt when her teacher wouldn’t allow her to write about God for a class assignment. Her mother was furious, and took her complaint to the school authorities.

When Erin Shead returned from school Wednesday, she told her mother, Erica, that her teacher told the class to write about an idol of choice — Erin chose God, according to Memphis CBS affiliate WREG.

“It was so cute and innocent. She talked about how God created the earth and how she’s doing the best she can,” said Shead.

However, when Erin turned in her work, her teacher at Lucy Elementary School, her teacher told her she couldn’t use God as an idol, so she had to choose someone else. She chose Michael Jackson.

It was OK to call Michael Jackson an idol, but not God.

In addition, she wasn’t even allowed to leave the paper about God at school. She had to take it home with her.

“How can you tell this baby, that’s a Christian, what she can say and what she can’t say?” asked Shead.

She took her complaint to the school principal.

With all due respect that teacher is stupid, the kid was right and she chose so good but the real problem is not that but the use of the word ”IDOL”,you are not allowed to have idols this is a sin,man must have only one God and that one is the only God who created the earth, the animals and MAN.”Idols” are images or symbols created by man to confuse and make the others to turn their faces from the only supreme divinity-GOD.I am a Michael Jackson fan since 1992 and will always be but Michael was only human(an amazing entertainer and a beautiful man inside and out)and to make an IDOL fom him this is just plain wrong…at least use a more appropiate word like ”role model” but not idol.Peace!!!

    P.S.:That teacher must go.
