MCDONOUGH, Ga. — He wasn’t selected to sing with Cee-Lo or Christina Aguilera, but 16-year-old Matthew Brea is already making quite a name for himself.
The Luella High School junior wowed America Monday night, appearing on NBC’s “The Voice,” singing The Jackson 5′s “I Want You Back.”
His first notes brought the crowd to their feet, but weren’t enough to convince a judge to push that red button. Brea was not selected for a team, but says he had a perfect experience.
“You’re on the stage with these four legends,” he said. “To be able to shake their hands is just…oh gosh, I’m still in la-la land!”
Brea, also an avid piano player, started singing when he was just a toddler, trying to keep up with his dad (a member of acapella group.) Brea recorded his first CD at age 11.
