An enraged Michael Jackson fan is suing his estate claiming it tricked fans into buying the late King of Pop’s 2010 album titled “Michael” - his first posthumous recording - making them believe he was the lead singer on 3 of his tracks when in fact he wasn’t.
The plaintiff, identified by Law360 as Vera Serova, filed a class action suit in a Los Angeles court in California Thursday, June12, alleging she bought the CD in 2011 because Sony - the company that bought the rights to Jackson’s unreleased music - guaranteed on the album cover that all the tracks were sung by Michael, the suit states.
Serova reportedly complained that the singer didn’t actually perform 3 particular tracks and instead they were sung by people pretending to be Jackson.
She has hired an audio expert to analyze the CD an it was determined that the lead vocals on “Breaking News,” “Monster” and “Keep Your Head Up” were most likely not those of the music icon’s, according to the court documents.
Vera has filed a reputed class action suit, which means if the charges were proven to be true, Michael’s Estate would have to pay everyone who purchased the complete album, or any of the songs in question.
Howard Weitzman, the Estate’s attorney, has previously claimed that Jackson has provided lead vocals for all the songs on the posthumous album.
