MJ Memorial Tokens To Be Given Burial In Detroit

Hundreds of stuffed animals, flowers, letters, cards, photos and other items placed outside Motown Museum in memory of Michael Jackson will be given an official burial at a Detroit cemetery.

Museum spokeswoman Sharon Banks says the memorial is being dismantled Thursday and will be taken at 10 a.m. Friday by two hearses donated by James H. Cole Home for Funerals to Woodlawn Cemetery.

The service will include a brief remembrance and a prayer. Banks says there will not be an official processional from the museum to the cemetery, but fans of Jackson can attend the service at Woodlawn which has donated two burial plots.

Jackson died June 25 in California. He signed to Motown Records in the late 1960s with his brothers as the Jackson 5. The museum is the former Motown Records studio.
