A jacket made for Michael Jackson caused a stir at Sheldon School on Monday.
The gold embroidered coat is worth more than £76,000 and was worn by Jackson on his 1996 HIStory world tour when he debuted You Are Not Alone and Earth Song.
Design and technology students at the Chippenham school were in awe of the item, brought in by a Savile Row tailor as part of an industry day to help them choose their GCSE course.
Matt Crocker, himself a former Sheldon pupil, is now a successful tailor for Gieves & Hawkes in London.
The company has designed bespoke suits for clients such as members of the royal family, as well as David Beckham, Jeremy Clarkson and Stephen Fry.
Textiles teacher Faye Fraser-Allden said: “Matt was happy to speak with students about his career in textiles and fashion and explained how textiles is not just for girls.”
