Queen and Michael Jackson fans are hugely excited about the imminent release of three duets between MJ and Freddie Mercury, but it turns out two of the tracks have been online for nearly five years. Check them both out below.
Brian May
recently revealed on his website that there would be ‘something for folks to hear’ in two months time, confirming a full release of rare duets recorded in 1983. However, two collaborations between the two icons have been online for several years.
‘There Must Be More To Life Than This’ and ‘State Of Shock’ have each clocked up hundreds of thousands of YouTube
views in the past five years, and alongside third track ‘Victory’, which was recorded at the same time in 1983. These seem certain to be the tracks released. May also confirmed that due to studio constraints at the time, no other tracks were recorded.
‘There Must Be More To Life Than This’ is unmistakably Queen, led by a melancholy piano riff, over which the much-missed voices of these two stars duet beautifully.
‘State Of Shock’ is more reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s
early work, based around a funky guitar riff and MJ’s tradmark ‘ow’s.
