Respected entertainment journalist Cynthia Horner was recognized by ThisIs50.com host, Young Jack Thriller in a recent red carpet event. He stopped the ‘Boss’ writer who’s got over 30 years experience in the industry to talk about her experiences with some of Black music’s most prolific.
Now the chief editor of publication, Hip Hop Weekly, Cynthia’s history goes far back in entertainment. She was hired on the spot by a temp agency looking to find a writer for Right On magazine. The reason she was hired, most intriguing. The temp agency said she was perfect for a job that required she hang with Michael Jackson everyday.
Young Jack Thriller, who’s one of the biggest MJ fans in the world, immediately opened into the story. He questioned her for unique stories to share about the icon, who he himself has a tattoo of on his left forearm. Cynthia had many to tell, within her own story, including how she worked with him since a child, Mike loving Ice Cream from Baskin Robins, and the Jackson family’s extremely humble nature. According to the respected entertainment journalist, her immediate connection with the Jackson family was simply the fact she did not know as much about them as everyone else. Due to her busy work schedule, she could not keep up with the Jackson 5′s high profile lives.
