With all the sadness going on in this world, I wanted to share something beautiful. ! ;-)

SALEM, N.H. (WHDH) - A 6-year-old cancer patient got her birthday wish thanks to volunteers in Salem, N.H. who spent two weeks building a deck and pool.

When the sign was removed Tuesday and Ava Doiron-Frankland got to see what awaited her she could barely hold it all in.

“First can I put my bathing suit on?” she asked.

For two months her dad, Jeff Frankland, has been with her at the Cleveland Clinic where she is getting treatment for her cancer while her other dad, Mike Doiron, was at home with her little sister and the army of volunteers.

“We casually put up post up on Facebook saying ‘Hey, does anyone have any connections that can help us buy something at cost,’” Frankland said.

Ava’s wish became the focused mission for volunteers who not only built the pool and deck, but built a garden, landscaped the yard and power washed the house.

“The end goal for all of this was to see her smile and jump into that pool and make her laugh,” Kurt Auger, one of the 200 volunteers, said.

Firefighters drove her final block home and a pool surrounded by once strangers, now friends, greeted her.

“It’s just amazing to see so much love for a little tiny 6-year-old little girl,” Frankland said.

The goal of the volunteers putting in the pool, and her dads every day, is to make Ava smile.

“The goal every day is to bring smile to her face, for her to know that we love her and appreciate every moment with her,” Doiron said.

Ava will get to enjoy the pool for the next week before heading back to Cleveland to continue her treatment.
