The results are in and it looks like the King of Pop still reigns supreme when it comes to Super Bowl halftime shows, according to AL.com readers.
Out of the 12 Super Bowl halftime shows AL.com ranked Wednesday, 2,968 of the 4,535 respondents to an accompanying survey voted Michael Jackson as their favorite act.
Beyonce was a distant second with 835 votes, followed by Prince with 155.
Audiences will see Sunday how Katy Perry matches up when she takes the halftime stage with Lenny Kravitz and a top-secret guest who some are saying may be Missy Elliott.
“I wanted to bring someone back,” she said at a Super Bowl press conference. “A throwback of sorts that definitely needed some more shine. All I can say is it will be a real female fun night. It’s a bit old school. When this person enters the stage and you hear the first ring of the chord I think jaws will drop and faces will melt.”
As for Perry, she recently told Billboard that she studied past performances to prepare.
“This is the biggest event of my career,” she said. “I want the show to be quintessential Katy. It’s like the exclamation point on the whole last cycle. This is the cherry on top to everything I’ve already done.”
