THEY fell in love musically at first note and now Richie Sambora has tapped Australian guitar virtuoso Orianthi for his first post-Bon Jovi tour and a new record.
Sambora and the guitar-slinger for Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper met at a New Year’s Eve charity concert and have been working together ever since.
He enlisted her for his tour of Australia for the Soundwave Festival and a gig at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday.
“The chemistry was there,” Sambora said.
“What’s interesting about it when you consider the age difference is we have the same musical background and that’s rock and the blues.
“Orianthi and I have a musical conversation when we play and she just happens to be one of the best players on the planet.”
Orianthi, who was rehearsing for the This Is It tour when Michael Jackson died, said the pair have already have “a ton of songs” and will regroup in Los Angeles in April.
“The songs are coming together really fast, we clicked as songwriters instantly,” she said.
